How I lost 10 Lbs for a week without starving to death while in quarantine

Note that I am not a specialist and this article is based on my personal experience and what helps me keep up in a good shape. If you decide to follow any of the advices given in this blog post, please do more research about it first.

Probably many of you, just like me, found yourself stuck to the fridge during self-isolation, consuming huge amounts of food, lying on the couch, watching some TV shows. If you can relate, then keep reading.

I guess I was just trying to “eat” my problems, because you know “food is happiness” and in times like these I definitely needed some extra of it.  I was OK at first because I had a lot of time for myself and I definitely missed that a lot. Enjoying “me” time, not going to work/university, doing the housework properly, also learning something new, read a couple of books and so on.

The problem is that you cannot really enjoy all of these things properly, having in mind the fact, the reason because of which you should stay at home - COVID-19.

This, ladies and gentlemen is the first step. Avoid thinking about the pandemic. I understand that this is a topic of a great matter to you at the moment, but also a very stressful one. Your imagination could be your best friend but sometimes it could easily turn into your worst enemy.

Why this step is crucial?

Well, if you are constantly worrying and thinking about the worst that could happen, your stress levels might get too high. You might find yourself being constantly tired and not in the mood for anything.

Have you noticed that you get tired very quickly during a work out when you are very stressed? Well, don’t be surprised, because when you are really stressed you might feel pain or tension in your head, chest, stomach, or muscles.

My Daily Food Routine:

During pandemic, eating healthy food remains an important part of maintaining my health. Even though, there is no specific food that protects from COVID-19, there are many healthy diets that could help you take care of your body. I chose low-carb diet because I am not as active as before, therefore my body does not need a lot of carbs(which are the main source of energy) at the moment. If you want to try it out, I left a link down bellow, so you can do a little bit of research and see if it’s the right one for you https://uk.atkins.com/

I have my breakfast around 30 minutes after waking up(7:00 - 8:00 am)

Lunch time around (12:00 - 13:00 pm)

Dinner time around (18:00 - 20:00 pm)

I would like to share a little trick I use in order to feel full and stop myself consuming a lot of food during the day - I drink a glass of water anytime I feel hungry.

Note: I drink a glass of water 30 minutes before having something to eat and do not drink anything for at least 30 minutes after eating. This way I help my body digest the food properly. Please read some more information about it from other websites as I am not a specialist.

Ideas for home-based exercises that help me keep up in a good shape

Regular workout is essential for supporting healthy immune functioning, preventing weight gain, boosting your mood and keeping you as healthy as possible during this challenging global pandemic. Physical activity can be a valuable tool to help you remain calm and continue to protect your health during this time. This is why I decided that now is the perfect time to take extra care of my health by including daily exercise routine in my, not so busy at the moment, schedule.

Here are links to the videos I find very useful:

Note: Now, that I have so much free time, I do these exercises twice per day - 2 hours after breakfast and 2 hours after lunch.

Main Tricks Summary:

- Low-carb food(do not do this if you are very active!)
- Glass of water 30 minutes before and after a meal
- Glass of water whenever I feel hungry
- Having a meal 3-4 times per day
- Exercise regularly

These simple tricks helped me lose 10 lbs for just a week without starving to death.
